A few kilometres away is Catania with its fish market, Taormina with its beautiful squares and the sandy beaches of Isola bella . Only thirty-five km away is Europe's highest active volcano Etna . Only thirty minutes away are the Alcantara gorges, an extraordinary river that flows from Etna down into the valley near Girdini Naxos.
