The Bougainvillea House is set in a vast flower garden, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, orchards and other dense vegetation in a mutual contamination of Mediterranean colours, smells and flavours. It has its own private outdoor area, cosy and immersed in greenery. Two centuries-old carob trees mark the garden, from which there is a breathtaking view over the valley and the sea. The atmosphere is typically Mediterranean. A stay at the Casa della Bouganvillea is a genuine Sicilian experience, where rurality and tradition guarantee a familiar and authentic welcome and hospitality. The possibility of spending pleasant moments of relaxation, enjoying private outdoor spaces, enriches this feeling of wellbeing, ease and intimacy. Outside, in their small gardens and verandas covered with reeds and bordered by palms, bougainvilleas, rose bushes and jasmine, guests can indulge in their moments of food and also enjoy the cool evenings that Sicily's temperate evening climate gives us. In addition to the spaces specifically belonging to the House of Bougainvillea, guests can also enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside, which merges to the south with the sea line, as well as the vegetable garden of Case Graffeo, set in an area bordered by a colourful hedge of prickly pears. From Menfi, by car and in some cases also by bicycle, in total relaxation and taking between 15 and 60 minutes, crossing gentle hills and admiring wonderful natural landscapes, it is possible to reach and visit numerous sites of historical and archaeological interest; to name but a few the Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa - the most extensive evidence of Greek domination in Sicily -, the Greek Temple and Theatre of Segesta, the Oriented Nature Reserves of the Belice River and the Zingaro, the Scala dei Turchi the Greek Temple of Concordia and with it all the others that enrich and adorn the famous and marvellous Valley of the Temples in Agrigento - included since 1997 in the list of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO - and then Mazara del Vallo with the Museum that preserves its Dancing Satyr - an emblem of Mediterranean beauty, an example of the submerged cultural heritage recovered in the sea of Sicily - and the Salt Pans of Marsala, Erice and Trapani.

The Bougainvillea, an ornamental plant that has characterised the landscape of Sicily for centuries, welcomes guests who wish to stay in this house. The Bougainvillea House is accessed by entering an open courtyard in which this plant, which flowers for most of the year, covers one of the two reed-covered verandas with which the house is equipped. It is arranged on a single level on the ground floor. One is welcomed into the living area from which, looking out on both the north and west sides, it is possible to admire the lush countryside that surrounds it in its various shades of colour that the changing light gives it during the day. The living room is equipped with all comforts; the furnishings are characterised by simplicity, sobriety and essentiality; it is also characterised by the presence of an efficient cooking corner with a wooden base equipped with all the necessary services and accessories. In the centre of the room, two colourful bergère armchairs allow for fantastic moments of absolute relaxation. Outside the living room there is access to two separate reed-covered verandas, the first exposed to the west and the second to the north, under which guests can indifferently organise their moments dedicated to food and also enjoy the cool evenings that the temperate evening climate of Sicily gives us. The house has two bedrooms.The first bedroom, through a large and bright French window, faces west onto the courtyard outside where the veranda covered by the Bougainvillea insists. Its soft colours reflect that of the surrounding natural elements and harmonise well with the sobriety of its furnishings. One descends into it via a small masonry staircase and overall it gives guests a special feeling of inner intimacy. It has an independent room service at its disposal. The furnishings include a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The large French window can be closed by curtains made of completely blackout material to allow maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. From the living area, a small hallway leads to the second bedroom; this has been realised with the adoption of a particular architectural solution that has allowed it to be superimposed on the first with the help of an iron supporting structure and wooden walls. Passing through the entrance door, a small masonry staircase provides access to the floor where there are two single beds that can be converted into a double bed; the room inside is equipped with drawers and has an independent bathroom. Special curtains on the window frames, made of completely blackout material, provide maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. The House is fully air-conditioned and Wi-Fi is always active and accessible in all its indoor and outdoor areas.

The identity element of the House of Bougainvillea, is the ornamental plant, from which the House takes its name, that has characterised the landscape of Sicily for centuries. Guests in fact enter the House of Bougainvillea by stepping into an open courtyard in which this plant, which flowers for most of the year, covers one of the two reed-covered verandas with which the house is equipped. The courtyard is also bordered on one side by an ancient wall built of local tufa as evidence of the Antico Casale that stood on the site from the first half of the 1800s.Please note that the holiday home can only be reached via an unpaved path (500 m). Two bicycles are available free of charge.
