• CASA VALE • Holiday cottages at the foot of the Transylvanian Carpathian Mountains

We offer 7 entirely different holiday homes in and around the shepherds village of Vale, directly at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. On the one hand, far away from the latest trends of time, on the other hand just around the corner from Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture 2007. A good choice for enthusiast of special places who want to add a pinch of Romanian serenity to their live experience.
The village is nestled between the wooded mountains overlooking the Transylvanian plain - in an absolutely peaceful spot with no through traffic. After a short walk you already find yourself in the oldest beech forest on the continent and will experience a unique flora and fauna on your way up to the mountain meadows. Alternatively, benefit from our central location in the heart of Romania and explore sights and trips in all directions.

• Villa Crina - our 200 sqm jewel with 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, living room with fireplace, south facing terrace, garden, BBQ - sleeps 8.
• Casa Pelu - renovated country house with new attic - 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, eat-in kitchen, cosy roof terrace | sleeps 6.
• Casa Nicu - 120-year-old cottage with the appropiate flair - large bedroom, eat-in-kitchen, bath, courtyard terrace | sleeps 2 (to 3).
• Villa Zollo - light-filled chalet with panoramic views - 3 rooms, 2 baths, balconies, livingroom, fireplace, terrace + garden | sleeps 6 (to 8).
• studio Zollo II - cosy studio apartment with kitchenette, bathroom, large terrace, and garden | sleeps 2 (to 3).
• Casa Lopo - farmhouse cottage with 2,5 bedrooms, eat-in-kitchen, bath, courtyard terrace, barn, garden | sleeps 4 (to 6).
• Cozo Fantu - shepherds cottage in the mountain meadows - bedroom, kitchen, terrace, spring water, outhouse | sleeps 4.

Each accommodation (except the shepherds hut) features a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, fast WiFi and TV with multi-language channels. The standard also includes a washing machine, central heating (tiled stove, gas heater, solar system) and at least one terrace or porch. The villas also offer spacious living rooms with fireplaces and gardens with parking and BBQ.
The pick-up from the Sibiu airport or train station is included, and on demand you can get a rental car with us or book a trip in a horse drawn cart into the mountains. Also available are farm products from the village (e.g. fresh milk, goat or sheep’s cheese, forest honey), and our cook conjures traditional menus fresh to the table with vegetables from the garden and meat from her own livestock.

• COZO FANTU •

This former shepherds hut in the alpine meadows provides only basic convenience, but lots of fresh mountain air for stressed lungs. A spring originates only a stone’s throw away, the trees hang heavy with cherries, and you can get cheese or milk from the shepherd next door.
The cabin consists of a small terrace, a kitchen, and a bedroom with a large pedestal bed that comfortably accommodates four people.
Facilities include pots and pans, plenty of blankets, hand and dish towels, kerosene lamps, a gas bottle with cooker, a grill, washing bowl and bucket, water cans, wood and an ax, toilet paper, dish soap and a sponge, soap, matches, salt and sugar. Cooking is done either with the gas burner, on the stove in the kitchen, or on the fire pit in front of the hut.
• Trade sockets for kerosene lamps.
• Trade the fridge for a cool basement.
• Trade the WC for an outhouse.
• Trade the shower for washing with spring water.
The cottage is located 5 km above the village of Fantanele, and about 20 km from Sibiu. It is accessible by foot or by mountain bike, but you will not find it without a guide. Usually, our caretaker Nicu leads you there. In the horse-drawn cart this will take 2 to 3 hours. Food supplies are available in the shops or at the marketplace in the small town Saliste. Once at the cabin, Nicu prepares a traditional shepherd’s stew in the kettle over an open fire, if desired.
If you arrive by car, you can park it comfortably on our enclosed plot in Vale. In case of travelling by train or by plane, we are happy to pick you up in Sibiu (no charges). At your request, we can provide a rental car or bikes for you. Interim supplies with groceries or a mobile phone with a Romanian card are also available.
Mobile reception at the cottage itself is bad, but a little further up the hill your phone will find the signal.
High meadows, forested mountains and the vastness of the valleys, as far as the eye can see: wooden huts and shelters, sheep, cows, and horses. This is a great starting point for hikes to the mountain lake at Gura Raului and further up into the Cindrel Mountains. Or simply lie down on a hillside, chew on a blade of grass and let the thoughts drift...

Après confirmation de la réservation, un acompte de 20 % du prix total de location doit être payé dans les dix jours. Ensuite, le deuxième paiement devra être effectué au plus tard 42 jours avant le départ. Si vous partez dans un délai de six semaines, la totalité du montant doit être payée immédiatement.
